Ceporex 125mg 100ml, Cephalexin
THIS IS A BRAND MEDICATION
THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS: CEPOREX ® is a bactericidal cephalosporin antibiotic which is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative.
Is indicated for the treatment of the following diseases, when caused by susceptible bacteria:
Respiratory tract infections: Acute and chronic bronchitis and bronchiectasis splenic infection.
Infections of ear, nose and throat: Otitis media, mastoiditis, sinusitis, tonsillitis and pharyngitis.
Urinary tract infections: acute and chronic pyelonephritis, cystitis, prostatitis and prophylaxis of recurrent urinary tract infections.
Obstetric and gynecological infections.
Skin infections, soft tissue and bone.
Gonorrhea (when it is not possible to treat with penicillin).
Dental Procedures: Treatment of dental infections.
As prophylactic treatment in cardiac patients subjected to dental procedures.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins and / or the ingredients of the formula.
Special Precautions: Special care must be taken in patients who have experienced an allergic reaction to penicillin or other beta-lactams.
As with other broad spectrum antibiotics, prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms (eg, Candida, Enterococcus, Clostridium difficile, etc.), requiring discontinuation of treatment.
Pseudomembranous colitis is associated with the use of broad spectrum antibiotics, so severe diarrhea in these patients should be considered a diagnostic possibility.
Like other antibiotics, renal excretion, when this function is insufficient, the dose should be adjusted CEPOREX ®
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Oral.
Adults: The majority of infections in adults respond with a dose of 1 to 2 g per day in divided doses, however, for most of the infections, the following simple scheme will be satisfactory:
Adults and children> 12 years: 500 mg three times daily.
To aid compliance, especially in outpatients, the daily dose can be divided into 2 equal doses, eg 1 g 2 times daily in adults with urinary tract infections.
The following additional information should also be considered: For severe infections or deep, especially when they are involved less sensitive organisms, the dose should be increased to 1 g three times daily or 1.5 g four times a day.
For prophylaxis of recurrent urinary tract infections in adults, it is recommended single dose of 125 mg at night, which may continue for several months (the suspension of 125 mg / 5 mL is indicated for this use).
Children <12 years: Ideally the dose should be calculated based on body weight, especially in infants. Subsequent doses for children are derived from the range of 25-60 mg / kg / day. For severe infections, chronic or deep, this dose may be increased to 100 mg / kg / day (maximum 4 g daily).
0 to 1: 25 to 60 mg / kg / day.
1 to 2 years: 62.5 to 125 mg every 6 hours or 125 to 250 mg every 12 hours.
3 to 6 years: 125 to 250 mg every 6 hours or 250 to 500 mg every 12 hours.
7 to 12 years: 250 to 500 mg every 6 hours or 500 mg to 1 g every 12 hours.
For treatment of most acute infections, should be continued for at least two days after clinical signs have normalized and the symptoms have subsided, but in chronic infections, recurrent or complicated urinary tract infection, treatment is recommended with 500 mg four times a day for two weeks.
For gonorrhea a single dose of 3 g to 1 g of probenecid, is sufficient in the case of males. Are effective 2 g of cephalexin with 0.5 g of probenecid in the case of female patients. Concomitant administration of probenecid delays the excretion of cephalexin and elevates serum levels of 50 to 100%.
Renal impairment: Cephalexin is not nephrotoxic, but other antibiotics can accumulate renal excretion unnecessary when renal function is below 50% of normal.
In general, dose reduction only when creatinine clearance is less than 10 ml / min. The maximum recommended adult dose (6 g) and children (4 g) must be reduced to 50% in mild renal failure, 75% in the moderate and severe in 87.5%.
Adults undergoing hemodialysis should receive an additional dose of 500 mg post-dialysis CEPOREX ®, with a maximum of 1 g per day. Children with kidney failure should receive 8 mg / kg / day and refill.
Elderly patients: It should be noted especially renal function.
