Clindamycin (Cigmadil) 300 mg 16 Caps, Clindamicina
INDICATIONS:
Clindamycin is effective in the treadment of Infections caused by Gram-positive aerobes such as Staphylococcus (S. pneumoniae) and against infection caused by certain Gram-negative microaerophilic and anaerobic organisms and gram-positive, including Actinomyces, Bacteroides, Eubacterium, Fusobacterium, and
Propionibacterium.
Clindamycin is indicated for the treatment of:
- Infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia and lung abscess.
- Infections of skin and soft tissue infections including acne, furunculosis, impetigo, infected wounds, erysipelas, and scarlet fever.
- Gynecological infections, salpingitis, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease when administered together with an appropriate antibiotic against gram-negative aerobes, spontaneous vaginal infections
PRECAUTIONS: Because it has been shown in vitro antagonism between clindamycin and erythromycin should not be used both drugs together.Derived from the presence of pseudomembranous colitis may occur persistent diarrhea after 2 or 3 weeks of treatment with clindamycin, which is why it is necessary to stopping the medication. If treatment with clindamycin is very long, tests for liver and kidney function. No need to change the dose of clindamycin in patients with kidney disease. In patients with moderate or severe liver disease, simply space the drug every 8 hours to avoid the accumulation of it not being necessary to reduce the dose.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Oral.
The usual dose of clindamycin in adults is 150 to 450 mg every 6 hours ada. In children, the recommended dose is 8 to 25 mg / kg per day administered in 3 or 4 equal doses. In children weighing less than or equal to 10 kg minimum
recommended oral dose is 37.5 mg 3 times daily.
The dose and duration of treatment should be determined according to the severity of the infection, the patient's condition and the susceptibility of the causative agent. To avoid the possibility of esophageal irritation, the capsules should be swallowed with a full glass of water.
